Structure of Rubber Seals

VW Bus (and VW Camper, Westfalia, Vanagon, etc.)rubbers seals, like all automobile rubber seals, must be fabricated from ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber in order to cope with the exposure that rubber seals such as your VW Bus seals have. The lifetime of any VW Bus rubber seal will depend largely on its chemical structure. The hardness of the rubber seal must also be optimized for the elasticity required for the seals. This depends on whether it is a large rubber seal that wraps around a VW Bus window, or a small molded rubber piece. For the most part German origina oem VW Bus seals and American made reproduction Bus seals are properly formulated and so you can be certain that any such Bus seal will not deteriorate prematurely.
