Unavailable for many years, EMPI product engineers have created a highly accurate reproduction of the original fuel tank for 1956-1960 Beetle and Karmann Ghia using SolidWorks CAD for a perfect fit and trouble-free installation. Constructed of stamped mild steel, TIG welded and finished in black, these tanks will deliver years of leak and fume-free operation. Just like the original, this is a dipstick tank, there is no provision for a fuel level sender. Protectant sprayed inside of new gas tanks must be cleaned
out before tank is used in order to prevent carburetor damage.
1. Isolate gas tank opening with rags and duct tape.
2. Use lacquer thinner (acetone) or carburetor cleaner.
3. Vigorously agitate cleaner by shaking violently.
4. Repeat three or four times, until drained fluid runs clear.
