NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A '72 KARMANN GHIA: In 1972, VW changed the gas cap opening. Please order the internal catch base type (#1) which does not thread into place if you have an early 1972. The last chassis number for the early type, in 1972, is 1422139975. Above that chassis number, order the screw in gas cap.
