Haartz Stayfast Canvas Convertible Top With Installed Plastic WindowYour convertible top must be made with fabric to match your headliner around window. Please indicate headliner color and material in dropdown on the right.
Headliner must be ordered separately.
We always have cables, wood top bows and Ghia rubber seals in stock. Therefore you can order the Ghia convertible top alone (probably also the top hold down cables), then order other parts as needed.
We also suggest that you look at our Karmann Ghia "convertible top packages" and also "books and literature," "convertible top wood bows," etc.
It is not possible to know everything you will need for your Ghia convertible top restoration until you strip off the old convertible top and examine the top frame.
Our guide books are complete in every detail of the convertible top installation: headliner, padding, top, cables, bows etc.
For those seeking professional shop installation, locate a shop that has experience with these cars and that will do a labor only installation.
Many of our customers complete a first time Karmann Ghia convertible top restoration successfully and well. The top installation manuals we offer are extremely detailed and are available separately.
Early Karmann Ghia tops have integral plastic rear windows, as original. Late Karmann Ghia convertible tops (mid 1969 and later) are made to accept the customer's steel/glass rear window assembly. Our late Ghia top has the Karmann Ghia rear window seal sewn into the top.
Early Karmann Ghia convertibles have three wood bows to which the convertible top is stapled to. The wood convertible top bow along the rear belt line of the car was eliminated in 1968 and later Karmann Ghia convertible has the front and rear top wood bow. We should emphasize that we no longer carry the plastic wood replacement bows. We have settled much too high a percentage of warranty claims due to cracking and un-stapling with the plastic convertible top bows. If you are using plastic convertible top bows obtained from another top distributor do not staple convertible top fabric too close to a bow edge. We urge consideration of genuine wood convertible top bows, despite the price difference compared with the plastic "wood replacement" convertible top bows.
