On the early air cooled vw engines, just below the 1-2 cylinders, was a brass/copper colored accordion style thermostat. This is the new style replacement for that part. You will need to drill a hole into your original mounting bracket for the locate nub to fit into, to prevent the thermostat from rotating. Fits all type 1 engines 64 to 74. Operates from 65-70 Celsius Original equipment part, made by Thermex, Denmark Germany. If your engine is fuel injected, don't buy this
